The value of this industry to the whole of Ontario is most likely not the reason, why you are looking to become a host or hostess in this important industry. To some it is a way of life – to work alongside with your family in the great outdoors. Others are looking towards higher returns on their investments. And then are the ones who are leaving the workforce but are not ready to retire – having something to do and enjoying entertaining guests at the same time as finally being their own boss.
As a buyer you will have to do some homework and I will help you with that: The clearer the image you have about your future the easier it will be to find the right property for you.
You have to ask yourself what kind of accommodation or services you like to offer. Then look at the activities you think your guests would participate in. How is the business accessible, e.g. year round on municipal road, fly-in only, boat-in only. |
Other important considerations are your financial situation, what amount of cash can you bring to the table, the geographical location of the business and the possibility for expansion if this is in your plans.
I have prepared a checklist to help buyers to get a better picture about their wishes, likes and dislikes and needs. Request your copy of this checklist here:

The reason why an owner wants to sell a business vary from retirement, family reasons, other job, change of business and so for. In some cases the seller agrees to hold back a mortgage behind a traditional financing. There may be many other issues to look at, e.g. right of way through the sellers adjacent property, shared well agreement, road maintenance agreement etc.
For all these reasons and many more it is important that you can relay on a professional Realtor.
